Continuous Glucose Monitoring, or CGM, is the process of automatically measuring the amount of sugar (glucose) in your body every few minutes with a sensor that is placed under your skin. The continuous readings allow the system to use the data to predict the direction your glucose level is heading and will display that information as an arrow. With the actual value of your glucose, plus the arrow, you can see more about what is happening with your glucose.

CGM systems available today measure glucose in the interstitial fluid – the fluid between your cells just under the skin. Since CGM is measuring glucose in a different part of your body, it might not be the same concentration as in your blood, but mostly similar. A blood glucose meter requires that you take a small sample of blood mostly from your fingertip and place it on a test strip that’s inserted inside a meter. The meter provides a glucose value based on the amount of glucose in the blood sample at that moment. CGM automatically and continuously provides glucose values every few minutes, using a sensor inserted just below your skin. The glucose level taken from your blood can be different from the glucose level in the fluid below your skin. With traditional CGM and FGM (Flash Glucose Monitoring) systems, you must insert a new sensor through the skin every 14 days. With the Eversense CGM System, a single professionally inserted sensor lasts for up to 3 months.

The Eversense CGM System uses fluorescence technology to measure glucose with a tiny sensor implanted under the skin. This advanced CGM technology enables a single sensor to be used for months. A smart transmitter is worn over the sensor using a gentle adhesive that is changed daily. The smart transmitter can be removed and replaced without ending the sensor session. The smart transmitter wirelessly powers the sensor, collects the glucose data and sends it to the Eversense Mobile App.

Flash Glucose Monitoring (abbreviated as FGM) uses a body-worn sensor that requires insertions of a new sensor every 14 days. FGM provides a glucose value on demand by scanning a reader or mobile app over the sensor to wirelessly obtain a glucose value. The Eversense CGM System uses a small sensor that is inserted completely under the skin, and does not have to be changed for up to 3 months. A smart transmitter wirelessly powers the sensor, automatically collects the glucose data every 5 minutes and sends it to the Eversense Mobile App on your compatible smartphone.

It is an in-office procedure performed by a Health Care Provider that usually takes approximately 15 minutes.

The smart transmitter wirelessly powers the sensor. This activates the sensor, which flashes an LED light source. A fluorescent polymer coating on the outside of the sensor responds to the LED light. Glucose from the body reversibly binds to the coating and the amount of light emitted by the coating rises and falls with the body’s glucose concentration. This emitted light is measured by photodetectors inside the sensor. Special circuitry digitizes the measurements and sends the data to the smart transmitter. The smart transmitter calculates the glucose value, direction, and rate of change and sends the information to the mobile app.

The smart transmitter sends glucose data via Bluetooth® to a compatible mobile device running the Eversense Mobile Application.

The Eversense CGM System is compatible with various devices. For a complete list visit the Compatibility Page.

The smart transmitter sends glucose readings to the app automatically every 5 minutes.

Yes, the smart transmitter is water-resistant. It can be submerged in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

You will receive on-body vibe alerts when you have reached the glucose alert levels you set. You will also see and hear the alert or notification on the Eversense Mobile App.

There are many Eversense providers throughout the United States. Please complete our getting started form and we will contact you.
